Karen Tarver, CPA
Karen is a Partner in our Audit and Attestation Practice. She specializes in Employee Benefit Plan audits, and audits of governmental, non-profit and for-profit organizations.
Karen is a CPA, licensed in the State of Alaska. Karen graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1993 with a Bachelor's of Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting. While in college she worked in both the retail and manufacturing sectors providing bookkeeping services. Karen entered the public accounting field in Anchorage, Alaska in 1993. She worked for a regional accounting firm for seven years providing accounting, tax and attestation services throughout Alaska. In 2000, Karen joined Elgee Rehfeld Mertz as an audit manager. During her career, Karen has served a variety of organizations, specifically governmental and not-for-profit organizations. This has provided a broad base of knowledge spanning from internal control system development and assessments to financial and compliance reporting.
Karen has completed and participated in extensive continuing education related to non-profit auditing and financial reporting, under both FASB and GASB pronouncements.
Karen is a member of the following professional associations:
* The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants,

* The Association of Government Accountants.
Karen also has a strong commitment to her community that she exhibits through her participation in the following organizations:
* Juneau Glacier Valley Rotary, 2001 to present (Treasurer 2001-2003)
